Camping in Perito Moreno Glacier

The Perito Moreno Glacier, a UNESCO World Heritage Site within Los Glaciares National Park, is one of the few advancing glaciers on Earth and one of Patagonia's most awe-inspiring natural wonders. While most visitors make day trips from El Calafate, camping near the glacier transforms the experience entirely. Arriving early before the tour buses, watching the ice glow pink at sunset, and hearing thunderous calving events echo through the night — these are experiences reserved for campers. The 80 km drive from El Calafate follows the southern shore of Lago Argentino through rolling steppe before entering dense lenga forest near the park. With a rental car, you control your schedule, allowing multiple visits to the walkways and time to explore lesser-known trails in the surrounding national park.
